Portalupi 2019 Vermentino, Las Brisas Vineyard, Carneros
Vintage: 2018 Varietal: Vermentino Vineyard: Las Brisas, owned by the Mahoney family. Soil: rap, adobe, river rock with great mineralogy and clay that allows for struggle. Appellation: Napa Carneros Harvest: 9/21/18, 5.2 tons, 22 Brix, 295 cases On aging: 5 months in stainless steel Alc: 12.7% Tasting notes: Pleasant white rose petal, creme fraiche aromas. Crisp on the palate with hints of pear and white peach. Refreshing and cleansing. This whine is gentle, like a summer breeze off the Mediterranean.
Critical Acclaim - Double Gold - 2020 SF Chronical 91 points, Anthony Dias Blue
Our Vermentino comes from the Carneros growing regions. The vineyard is owned by the legendary Mahoney family, one of the truly dedicated growers and champions of Vermentino in California. Las Brisas Vineyard was named by the family after the winds that drive morning fog into the vineyards and cooling airflow in the late afternoon. The unique Carneros soil structure and location provides the perfect growing conditions for the Vermentino grape. This grape is rare yet one of the finest Italian white wines.
